The cause of

The cause of acne comes from a disorder of the skin?s oil glands. These oil glands produce a substance called sebum, which is constantly secreting through openings in the skin.

In some cases cells that are too close to the openings of these oil glands actually end up in the way and block the opening. As a result, oil builds up underneath the skin and provides a wonderful feeding ground for the nasty bacteria that simply multiply and cause acne.

What the blue light does is trigger the proliferation of photo sensitizers (so called porphyrins) in the acne causing bacteria. This creates a toxic environment, which destroys the acne bacteria themselves, thereby eliminating a major culprit in the process of producing acne.

Blue-light therapy typically requires 16 minutes per treatment session. Patients sit in a chair while the therapeutic light is applied.

H-I-S Paint opens fourth metro store…

Journal Record, The (Oklahoma City), Aug 1, 2000 by Ray Dozier The Journal Record

H-I-S Paint Manufacturing Co. has opened its fourth store in the Oklahoma City area at 13821 N. Harvey in Edmond.

Anthony Lipscomb manages the new store and Scott Bryant serves as assistant manager.

The nearly 6,000-square-foot store is a distribution point for contractors and retail sales, said David Thompson, spokesman for H-I- S Paint.

The company currently has two manufacturing plants near downtown Oklahoma City — one for oil-based paints and the other for water- based paints.

“H-I-S Paint now makes the similar quality paint as many national brands, and it’s made right here in Oklahoma City” Thompson said. “The benefit is cost savings to the customer.”

The company has other paint stores at 1801 W. Reno Ave., Wilshire and May, and SW 89th and Western.

“Business levels in Edmond and north Oklahoma City have grown significantly for several years and it’s vital that H-I-S Paint maintain our very high levels of customer service there,” said Kirk Cox, H-I-S Paint vice president.

Joe T. Cox, who continues to serve as president and CEO, founded H- I-S Paint in 1972. Kirk is one of three sons who help him operate the company

Getting ahead as a zoo keeper

Getting ahead as a zoo keeper

0 Comments | Leicester Mercury, Jul 1, 2010

Becky Jones goes wild with Keisha, Justin, maybe even Peter Andre…

I’m standing in Twycross Zoo’s giraffe enclosure, surrounded by soiled straw, breathing in a smell that’s not exactly eau de parfum. It may not be everyone’s idea of a great way to spend a warm summer’s day, but do you know what? I’m loving my taste of life at the zoo. I adore animals, so sampling the new Keeper for the Day experience is my idea of a perfect day out of the office.

Participants choose to work with either the hoof stock, the carnivores, or the primates.

I’m mainly working with the hoof stock, alongside keeper Sarah.

First, it’s brush and shovel to the ready as we clean out the enclosure belonging to the two giraffes, Justin, 7, and Keisha, 11.

The wet straw and dung is swept up and put into a trailer outside, ready to be taken to the on-site composter. Then, the enclosure is hosed down, and it’s breakfast time for the lofty buddies.

With a saucepan of soya, oats, bran, maize and browser pellets in one hand, I climb on to the railings, and launch the contents into the giraffes’ giant food bowl above me. Then in comes Sarah with a huge hawthorn branch for them.

“In the wild, giraffes would spend 80 per cent of their time browsing, so that’s the best thing you can do to keep them stimulated,” she says.

Leaving the contented creatures, we head across to the pudu enclosure for another spot of cleaning.

The cute pudus – “the smallest true deer” Sarah tells me – are busy gadding around outside while I sweep up the soiled sawdust and straw.

There’s two females, Fergie and Apple, and a new, as yet nameless, male.

“He needs to be named after a singer,” says Sarah. “The old male was called Enrique. I might call this one Peter Andre.”

Passing by scores of excited families, we walk to the bottom kitchen to make dinner for the tufted deer. They’re a gorgeous family of four: Mum Michelle, dad Mitch, one year-old son Ying Xiong, and a one monthold son who is still to be named. Dinner is a colourful collection of carrot, apple, cabbage, grapes and lettuce, with a scoop of goat feed on top.

“Because one of the deer is only one month old, we have to chop it up small,” explains Sarah, as she slices a carrot at the speed of light.

Trying to emulate the Delia Smith of the zoo world, I spring into action, chopping as quickly as I can – narrowly avoiding slicing the end off my finger.

Each armed with a dish full to the brim, we go back across the site to feed the fluffy foursome.

Once I’ve finished cooing over them, it’s time to visit the woolly monkeys, and help keeper Debbie to prepare their lunch.

The five residents play outside while I chop up the exotic mixture of apple, walnut, turnip, carrot, lettuce, cucumber and runner beans.

I take the food into the enclosure, and put it in various hideyholes.

I’m not being mean – it’s part of their enrichment.

I add the final touch – a ball of paper hiding nuts and fruit – and as soon as the door is opened, Branco and friends are in like a shot.

I leave them enthusiastically scurrying around, and re-join Sarah at the giraffe enclosure – where it’s treat time for Justin and Keisha.

“I’ve got some carrots for you to give them,” says Sarah.

Sounds like fun.

I pick up half a carrot in each hand and hold them up as high as I can.

Anyone who thinks that American Business is

Anyone who thinks that American Business is down and out need to look no further than their local public library and the new hardware being installed which would make even Carnegie smile.

This white paper on Page: 6 has a couple of paragraphs of what some of these early adopters can expect for Video, Audio and Book Inventory Applications, which obviously lends itself to uses for libraries and school districts from: Zebra Technologies:

Now then if we look at the Training Sessions for Homeland Security, FBI, Annapolis Naval Academy, West Point, etc. By allowing the military which is already heavy into the RFID game and is learning a lot and moving the ball forward and allowing some of this basic research and development to be used in their libraries, universities, academies and top notched training facilities, we can have a world class system ready for transferability into other public sectors which can assist streamline efficiencies in education to make good on America?s commitment to the ?No Child Left Behind Act? possible by freeing up monies and re-investing those monies into books, educational material for the class rooms so teachers do not have to use their own money.

Are they good or bad

Are they good or bad for us? Do they cause global warming? Before entering the debate, just what are carbon fuels?

What are Carbon Fuels?

Carbon fuels form one of the great debates in society these days. They are the building blocks of nearly every economy in the world. This also makes them a great point of tension given the fact that some countries have more than others. Throw in issues of pollution, greenhouse gases and global warming and you have a lively, important debate on energy. So, just what are carbon fuels, and how do we use them in every day life?

The question of what are carbon fuels can start with a definition. Carbon fuels are any hydrocarbons that are formed from decaying plants and animals. They include such fuels as coal, natural gas and oil. Carbon fuels are also known as mineral fuels because of the way they are created.

The creation of carbon fuels from the decay of animals and plants was first hypothesized in 1757 by Mikhail Lomonosov and was quickly proven to be fact.

Ever since man can remember, he has

Ever since man can remember, he has been in search of new ways to be entertained. In the old Roman days, it was seeing a lion take off the head of a gladiator. In modern times, it’s reality television. There are more types of entertainment than you can possibly imagine. Some of it, even suitable for children.

In the following series of articles we’re going to try to stay away from the usual dull definitions of certain types of entertainment, like “What is a play?” and questions of that nature. Instead, we’re going to focus on some of the greatest entertainers and events of our times. These events cover a broad range of categories from TV to movies to music to theater, to the circus and so on. Entertainment itself may very well be one subject where you could write a thousand books on it, all the size of War And Peace. And let’s not forget historical re-enactments as a form of entertainment as well, though not traditionally considered theater.

That?s what a

That?s what a strategic plan can do for you. It?s like using a map to understand the best way to get across town knowing that are various options, but some are more direct and efficient then others. Strategic Planning is a deliberate, purposeful thought progression that when implemented will ensure your success.

I have taken the process and broken it into 5 steps. The first is Visioning? meaning you need to know at the beginning where you want to end up. Create a vivid mental picture of your future and list the specific results you want to achieve.

The second piece in the process is Preparing – strategically. To be strategic is to be calculating, deliberate and intentional. We?ve all heard the saying that knowledge is power so this is how you ?power-up?! Strategically preparing incorporates research, resources and identifying potential options across a broad range of concerns. As with a corporate plan, an individuals? plan must include a SWOT analysis.

CONSUMER GROUPS TARGET CREDIT INSURANCE.

Automotive News, March, 1999 by Harris, Donna

Despite rate decreases, consumer advocates have renewed their attack on credit insurance.

Consumers Union of Yonkers, N.Y., and the Center for Economic Justice of Austin, Texas, released a study that claims consumers spend $2 billion a year on unneeded credit insurance on auto loans, credit cards or other debts.

In total, more than $17 billion in credit insurance was sold in the United States from 1995-97, the study says. Credit insurance pays a lender if the borrower becomes disabled or dies

Winbond Electronics Receives Most Innovative DRAM Award in

Winbond Electronics Receives Most Innovative DRAM Award in

0 Comments | Wireless News, Jul 27, 2010

UBM TechInsights has announced Winbond Electronics as the winner of the Most Innovative DRAM award in TechInsights’ 9th Annual Insight Awards.

Winbond’s 65nm buried wordline 1Gbit DDR2 SDRAM garnered the award, according to officials.

Young Choi, Senior Manager in TechInsights’ Technical Intelligence group said, “Our analysts consider the Winbond device a revolutionary step forward in DRAM design. The buried wordline cell structure dramatically improves parasitics in the cell by physically separating the wordline from the rest of the structure. This cell architecture could lead to a scaling factor of 4F2 compared to the current implementation at 6F2.” Choi continued, “We expect to see Winbond follow a traditional manufacturing learning curve with this new architecture, releasing production DRAMs in successively smaller geometries over the next few generations of memory. Using buried wordline they can optimize devices for either high-speed or low- power and this technology could give them a strong competitive advantage in either market.”
